Liquid Facelift

With age, our skin changes and there is a breakdown of the skin’s connective fibres, such as collagen and elastin. Along with this, there is also a loss of fat in deeper skin layers and this may result in sagging, loose skin that is more vulnerable to wrinkles and fine lines.

Many of us want to combat these changes but may not be willing to go under the knife. This is why Liquid facelifts are right for you if your skin has started to show wrinkles or mild sagging of the skin. Since it is a non-surgical procedure, it is relatively safer, simpler and easier to see results.

    What is a liquid face-lift?

    • During a liquid facelift, your doctor will administer multiple injections of dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are substances that aid to restore facial fullness for younger-looking skin.
    • Before starting, your doctor will perform a general physical exam to take a look at your face and determine the areas that need to be treated.
    • A local anaesthetic will be used to numb the area and make you feel comfortable and relaxed.
    •  Each shot may take just a few minutes and may target areas including:
      • The temple area
      • The area below the lower eyelid
      • Cheeks that have started to sag
      • The folds between the nose and mouth also called marionette lines
      • The fine creases beside the mouth

    Types of Dermal Fillers

In today’s time and age, various types of fillers are available and they include:

    • Hyaluronic acid– Most commonly used, and the results last about 8 to 9 months and are completely reversible — if you are not happy with the results, your doctor can dissolve the filler
    • Calcium hydroxyapatite: This type of filler is nonreversible and takes longer to break down about 12 to 16 months.
    • Poly-L-lactic acid: This substance stimulates the production of collagen that improves your appearance and may last up to 24 months. The effects are progressive and over some time. The treatment may be spread out and requires three to four injections over a series of visits.
    • Collagen or fat: This method is also known as Soft Tissue Augmentation. This type of filler incorporates fat transfer from the patient’s own body. The results may last anywhere between 3 to 12 months.

At Handa Aesthetics, we use medically approved, safe-for use, non-surgical fillers such as Voluma, Juvederm, Lyft, Restylane Defyne etc based on th end result required and what is the best suited method for you.

How much does a liquid facelift cost?

In general, liquid facelifts are cost-effective. The cost of a liquid facelift procedure depends on several aspects such as:

    • The location of the clinic – dermatological treatment costs vary across various cities and different locations.
    • What kind of injections you are being administered
    • The number of sessions that may be required

Are there any risks or side effects?

While there will generally be less bruising with liquid facelifts than with surgical facelifts, you might still bruise a little after the procedure. You’re more likely to bruise if the fillers were inserted around your eyes.

If you use any blood-thinning medication, your bruising could be worse. You must tell your doctor about all the medication and supplements you take, even if it’s just a multivitamin.

Some pain, swelling, and redness can also occur after the procedure.

Are you a candidate for a liquid facelift?

Ideal candidates for a liquid facelift include patients who have mild signs of ageing (fine lines and wrinkles or minimal volume loss) and do not have excessively sagging skin or developed jowls.

The thing to consider when thinking about a liquid facelift is that the treatments require maintenance, and are designed to give you a boost in volume or smooth out wrinkles.

Keep in mind that there are limits to what fillers can do while still preserving your natural look. If you have jowls or loose excess skin on your face and neck, fillers can’t effectively address that completely.

If you choose an untrained and inexperienced individual to inject you with fillers, the result may be a puffy, unnatural look that ends up distorting your natural facial definition. Be sure to consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon that has additional extensive training and the experience and expertise you require.

    • You may need to stop certain NSAIDs or other medications as per your doctor’s advice
